Distinguished Military Service

As part of my genealogical research, I rediscovered a rich history of dedicated military service, bravery, accomplishment, and tragedy that my branch of the family had nearly forgotten and lost for generations to come. I am aware that I am not the only descendant of this family to research these distinguished men, but I feel that I have been able to uncover a substantial amount of recorded accounts of the Ketchums that others most likely have not found or recognized. It is the story of two, and possibly three, generations of the Ketchum family originally from the town of Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut. The more I research and discover, the more amazing these generations of Ketchums become. The purpose of this page is to share some of the information I have found, and what I discover along the way. My dream is to write and illustrate a biographical accounting of their military careers during an important period of American history. There are many connections and family members to validate as genuine ancestors. I can only imagine that this endeavor will take several more years to complete. Hopefully this will be with the assistance of other family members, genealogists, and historians.

The Family Connection

How am I related to the Ketchum family? My great grandfather, Dr Frank Landale Tucker Sr, married Ella Rebecca Ketchum, the granddaughter of Major General William Scott Ketchum, on March 27, 1893 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York.
